Thomas Falconer (1772-1839), classical scholar and preacher. His son, Thomas Falconer (1805-1887), barrister and English politician, was a member of the Texas-Santa Fe expedition of 1841-42. The younger Falconer traveled for two years in North America before being appointed arbitrator on behalf of Canada to determine the boundaries between Canada and New Brunswick in 1850. Thomas Falconer (1805-1882) took part in the Texas-Santa Fé expedition of 1841-42 and was appointed arbitrator on behalf of Canada to determine the boundaries between Canada and New Brunswick. Richard Whately was born in London on February 1, 1787, the youngest of nine children of the Reverend Joseph and Jane Whately. He attended Oriel College, Oxford, where he received the B.A. in 1808. Whately was elected as a fellow at Oriel in 1811, and took the M.A. in 1812. He was a member of the Oxford circle which found fault with the traditional tenets of the Anglican Church.
